What the recipe assumes you have
Four cups is the 34 oz size, and the note about coarse grind is doing real work: a blade grinder produces powder alongside the coarse particles, and the powder slips straight through the mesh into your cup. The press and the grinder are the two purchases that matter here.
The press
Bodum Chambord French Press, 34 oz
Why it fits
Thirty-four ounces is the four-cup capacity this recipe is written for. Borosilicate glass in a stainless frame, with the four-part filter assembly that comes apart so you can scrub the screens rather than living with rancid oils. Bodum sells the beaker and the filter parts separately, so a breakage is a part order rather than a new press.
Limitations
Single-wall glass loses heat across the four-minute steep, which is why the recipe starts you at 200 degrees rather than lower. The wire frame gets hot to hold, and the glass beaker is genuinely fragile. One mesh screen lets more sediment through than a double-filter press.
